Global School of Science Students Donate Over NPR 130,000 to Flood Relief Efforts

KATHMANDU, Sep 1: Students of Global School of Science (GSS) have collectively raised and donated NPR 130,995 to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to demonstrate a strong sense of solidarity and civic responsibility. The funds are earmarked to support families and communities recently devastated by severe flash floods sweeping through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river valleys.

The sudden flooding has displaced numerous residents, disrupted local livelihoods, and caused widespread property damage across the affected regions. GSS students mobilized quickly to collect funds, understanding the urgent need for aid that would provide a brick in building a lifeline for those facing profound loss and hardship.

The initiative also highlighted the school community’s ability to respond swiftly in moments of crisis. By coming together for a common cause, the students showed how collective action can make a meaningful difference for those in urgent need.

School administrators praised the initiative, emphasizing that the fundraising drive reflects a core principle championed by the institution: true education extends far beyond textbooks and academic achievement. The donation was presented during a program jointly organized by the club members and the school administration. “It is merely the efforts of the students,” said the Vice Principal Mr. Gokul Dev Badu. “Professional Holdings Limited, the company that runs Global School of Science and its sister organizations, has separately donated 21 lakhs to the same fund”.

The disaster in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli valleys has prompted widespread calls for national support. For the victims, rebuilding will be a long and difficult process, but grassroots efforts like those led by the GSS students provide immediate, tangible hope. The school's leadership expressed immense pride in its students for proving that when young people unite with a shared sense of duty, their combined efforts become powerful acts of kindness.
